Most gifted clothing never gets worn

Someone means well. They see a shirt with a joke on it that reminds them of you, they guess at your size, and it arrives. You laugh, you say thank you, and it goes in the drawer with the other one. It is a small waste, repeated a few billion times a year.

The Joyful Gift Grove started from the opposite end. If a shirt is going to be a gift, it should be something the person reaches for on a Tuesday. That means the joke has to actually land, the size has to be right, and the fabric has to be good enough that it survives being a favourite.

The blank underneath matters more than the print

Most graphic tees fail in the same three places: the print cracks, the collar loses its shape, or the shirt twists out of true after a few washes. All three are decided before the artwork ever goes on. So we picked our blanks first.

  • The t-shirt — 5.3 oz of 100% US cotton. Tightly knit, no side seams, taped shoulders. It holds its shape instead of twisting.
  • The sweatshirt — 8 oz cotton-poly blend, double-needle stitched at the shoulders, armholes, neck, waistband and cuffs. Those are the five seams that normally give out first.
  • The hoodie — the same 8 oz blend, with a double-lined hood, matched drawcord and a kangaroo pocket.

All three run S to 5XL, on every design. Not a subset of designs. Every one. Plus size and big and tall are proper collections rather than two sizes tacked onto the end of a dropdown.

How the printing works

Our prints go into the cotton rather than sitting on top of it as a plastic film. It is the difference between a design that feels like part of the shirt and one that feels like a sticker, and it is why ours do not split along the fold lines. Fine detail on sleeves and inner neck labels is done with a separate method that holds small line work better at that scale.

Where things come from

The cotton is grown in the US under the US Cotton Trust Protocol, which sets measurable standards for water use, soil health and emissions on supplying farms. The dyes are certified to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, meaning every component has been tested for harmful substances. Tees and sweatshirts are made in Nicaragua, hoodies in Bangladesh.
